Mission Statement

The mission of the Together Strong NPC Foundation is to provide project financial support to organizations representing scientists, academics and patients that focus on Niemann-Pick Disease, Type C (NPC). Funding priorities include fostering innovative research, improving treatment and supporting the community of patients, families and care givers impacted by the disease.


NPC Science

Develop foundational science to benefit NPC patients; advance research and development projects that focus on discovery, identification of therapeutic targets, and improved diagnostics

Public Awareness and Advocacy

Enable stronger independent patient advocacy organizations focused on NPC: improve and advance their capabilities to execute their unique missions

Collaboration and Information Sharing

Foster international collaboration among scientists, clinicians and patient advocacy organizations to disseminate new information, treatment guidelines and clinical resources, and develop programs to train health professionals who treat NPC patients.

Grant Guidelines

The following are eligible for support:

  1. Early discovery programs
  2. Research and development projects to improve understanding of NPC, to enable pre-symptomatic diagnosis and to establish effective therapies.
  3. Projects to increase understanding of the complexity of the disease and its impact through patient registries.
  4. Support for patient advocacy organizations to improve access to information and resources about NPC and to help build their capabilities. The TS-NPC Foundation is open to funding projects in collaboration with other foundations engaged in support for NPC

Grant Award Budget Cost Guideline

Total requested grant award amount may include direct costs and indirect costs. Indirect costs are capped at 10% of direct costs (after excluding costs for capital purchases). If an institution is willing to waive the IDCs, the total award amount can be used as direct costs. No cost budget submitted to TS-NPC should include capital purchases or general and administrative salaries in its direct or indirect costs. These components will not be approved.

The TS-NPC Foundation is open to funding projects in collaboration with other foundations engaged in support for NPC Foundation grant agreements will require that scientific output be made publicly available to the NPC community freely, and without constraints.

Step 3: Review Process

Together Strong NPC Foundation will review your request for funding to determine if this request meets our scope of interest and guidelines. You may be invited to complete a full proposal following this review.
